Shirodhara is an Ayurvedic therapy still used in Indian Ayurvedic hospitals today. Shiro means "head" and Dhara means “flow". Warm herbal infused organic oil pours in a continuous stream over the forehead, or “ajna marma”, an area where nerves are highlyconcentrated. The pressure of the oil onto the forehead creates a vibration throughout the central nervous system. The oil saturates the forehead and scalp, stimulating the pineal gland which produces melatonin. The gentle pressure and soothing warmth of the oil allow the body and mind to experience a deep state of rest similar to meditation and is very effective in regulating sleep cycles. Our quality oils for this practice are made to order by an Ayurvedic doctor in New Mexico. The session includes a take home bottle of herbal infused oil.
